I grew up in Jamshedpur, India and obtained my medical degree (MBBS) from Darbhanga Medical College, Laheriasarai, India. After completing medical school, I was sponsored by the Division of Sponsored Research (College of Medicine, University of Florida, Gainesville) for a Masters in Immunology upon completion of which, I moved to the UK. I trained in pathology initially in the UK and subsequently in the USA and am a board certified pathologist and dermatopathologist (USA and UK). I also obtained a PhD from the University of London while doing my residency in pathology in the UK.
I live in Brookline, MA and love to cook (when the children were young we used to go on "cooking vacations" ), swim, paint and garden. I paint using different mediums (oil, acrylic and charcoal) on different surfaces (wood, copper, aluminum, linen and canvas) and have sold some of my paintings to support charitable causes. I cultivate (or at least try to!) bonsai plants native to India.
